We are delighted to share an update for one of the most ambitious and rewarding projects in our portfolio: the transformative mixed-use redevelopment of the former Weylands Treatment Works in Hersham, Surrey.
Francis Hunter is thrilled to support Northumberland Estates and implement a deliverable high-quality scheme, bringing jobs and economic growth to the local area.
Key highlights so far:
- Secured hybrid outline / detailed Planning Permission in April 2025 for 463,000 sq ft site - a mix of commercial, industrial, substantial landscaping and affordable housing
- Detailed Planning Consent achieved for the first phase, to include erection of commercial buildings for Class E/Class B8 development with new access road, cycle/pedestrian access and landscaping
- Worked with Elmbridge Borough Council through a lengthy application process to secure approval at appeal
- Led the full design team procurement: appointing architects Darling Associates Architects, structural and civil engineers Burrows Graham as well as Entran Ltd for Highways and Transportation and Iceni Projects for Planning and Landscaping
- Coordinated the comprehensive Environmental Statement successfully addressing the areas of ecology, flood risk, traffic, heritage and sustainability, and ensuring the plan adheres to the highest environmental standards with supporting transport and green infrastructure, restoring the eastern end of the site to a protected ecology area of high environmental and biodiversity value
Our team's technical knowledge, policy experience and collaborative approach have proved invaluable throughout the whole process.
We are now working closely with the Planning Authority and Design Team to make a detailed ‘Reserved Matters’ Application with the hope that demolition and site preparation will begin in mid 2026.
